Well, this proved to be a very challenging job…
The brief being to create a site that would challenge the likes of daft.ie and myhome.ie for the corporate lettings market. Whether the site succeeds remains to be seen, but the functionality, style and usability are all there.
Corporate Letting had been in business for over 10 years when it was decided that a complete rethink was required in the way that they approached their target market. It was decided that the business should move to being online only and that all properties could be self-managed and advertised on their site by numerous agents and individuals rather than just the one as it had been previously. I was commissioned to take on the project after it was decided that a custom-made web-app to handle the content was out of the question financially. So, I had the challenge of finding a way to do this using WordPress as an engine for the new site.
I had contemplated using either Gravity Forms or Formidable Pro as a means of collating content and then creating custom post types to advertise the various properties. I had also investigated specific real estate plugins that were designed to instantly turn your site into an auctioneer’s. But… those just seemed a bit… naff. Then I stumbled across “ClassiPress” which was being described as an ‘app theme’. Here was a classified ads site that, with a little (actually a lot) of customisation could well be the answer to Corporate Letting being able to challenge ‘the big boys’ in the market.
The results are pretty impressive, even if I do say so myself! I have added a lot of extra functions and made it all very user friendly.
In our first chat it was obvious that he understood my ideas and would bring his own creativity to develop a bespoke, unique website for my bookshop.
