Branding for Farrell & Nephew
After the success of creating one online bookshop, I was asked to design another.
Farrell & Nephew have been a successful, family-run bookshop in Newbridge, Co. Kildare for almost sixty years now. With an established business built on traditional values and personable service, it was quite a leap of faith to attempt to re-fit the shop premises, re-brand and launch an e-commerce website all in the same year… but that’s what happened.
I was invited to visit the premises and quote for this project in November 2014 and, while there, was kind of overawed by the ambitious plans that Farrell & Nephew had for their traditional bookshop and gift store. It became apparent that with the shop re-fit plans they had in mind, a classic, traditional identity would need to be in place. Something that echoed their values, that had an air of bygone times with a subtle sense of elegance.
I set about designing just that and the results were well received. A brand identity, complete with a full suite of stationery and more were delivered. The next challenge was to replicate this style in a fully-functional e-commerce website that was also Google and mobile friendly.
Rather than me waffle on about its fabulous design and technical wizardry, why not just check it out for yourself?
Designing a vintage look to be applied across traditional print and modern devices.
I like working with Paulo. It’s straightforward. It’s quick and thorough. I get results from him that are ready for me to show my management teams for selection, as opposed to first principles discussions.
